Jonathan Lyons is a professional animator whose work can be seen in major motion pictures, and award winning TV commercials. Most recently:

"The Host" is a critically acclaimed film from Korean director Joon-ho Bong. Jonathan was part of the creature animation team at The Orphanage.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End". Completing his work on the entire Pirates trilogy, including the Academy Award winning "Dead Man's Chest."

During his time at Industrial Light & Magic, Jonathan also worked on other high profile films such as The Mummy Returns, The Day After Tomorrow, and Van Helsing. While part of ILM Commercial Productions, he worked on 2 Clio Award winning commercials, and a few superbowl spots.

Prior to ILM, Jonathan was animation director at Duck Soup Studios (now called DUCK) where he directed animation on various commercials, including 11 Pilsbury Dough Boy spots. He also created the original story and design for Duck Soup's short CG animated film "The Snowman" which showed in the Electronic Theater at Siggraph 2001.

Jonathan's transition to CG animation came after years of working in traditional media on such feature films as Don Bluth's "Rock-A-Doodle", Bill Kroyer's "FernGulley: The Last Rainforest", and Rick Rich's "The Swan Princess". Other projects included commercials such as the Keebler Elves, and the Bug's Bunny short "Carrotblanca." On the CD-ROM "Disney's Magic Artist" Jonathan animated Donald Duck and Pluto.

Jonathan graduated from New York University's distinguished school of film in 1988. His short student film "The Early Worm" was a winner of a F.O.C.U.S. award, a national student film award.

During college, he worked at Broadcast Arts as a motion control camera operator. He also was workshop manager on the first season of Pee-Wee's Playhouse.
